Q1 How do I apply, and what does the application process involve?

The application process is:

1. Submit your application - The application package comprises three components: a basic application form, a 2–3 minute self-introduction video, and a teacher reference. You will be asked to nominate a teacher by providing their name and email address; our team will then contact them directly to request a reference covering the student's behaviour, cultural sensitivity, and overall suitability for the China programme.

2. Attend an online interview 

3. Select and confirm - Applications are assessed competitively on leadership potential, self-directed learning ability and an interest in China. Previous experience of cultural exchange is desirable. After this, our team will be in touch to notify your application outcome and guide you to the next steps.

4. Pay deposit - Successful applicants pay a non-refundable deposit to secure their place.

5. Collect required information - Families provide medical information (conditions, allergies, medication), emergency contact details, dietary requirements and other enrolment information.

6. Final payment - The remaining balance is paid by the specified deadline.

7. Travel plans - You will receive our pre-departure guide and receive an invite to our online welcome so you can make your plans to travel!

Q2 When will we know if an application has been successful, and when is the student's place confirmed?

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received, given the competitive and limited-capacity nature of the programme. Following submission of the full application (form, video and teacher recommendation), applicants will be notified of the outcome. A student's place is formally confirmed once the deposit has been paid.

The programme team will communicate specific timelines during the consultation phase, and all parents / guardians of prospective students will be invited to a webinar where application timelines and next steps are explained in detail.

Q3 What are the key dates (application, payment deadlines, and camp dates) ?

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and places are limited, so we encourage early applications. Once all places are filled, remaining applicants will be placed on a waiting list.

The key dates for Camp China 2027 are:

• Thursday 1 October 2026: Applications open

• Wednesday 14 October 2026: Parent information webinar

• Friday 27 November 2026: Deadline for School Ambassador Scholarship applications

• By Friday 18 December 2026: Scholarship outcomes confirmed

• Friday 26 February 2027: Final application deadline, subject to availability

• Within 14 days of your offer: £500 deposit due to secure your place

• Wednesday 31 March 2027: Final balance of £1,100 due (£300 for scholarship recipients). If an offer is made after 31 March 2027, the full balance is due at the same time as the deposit.

• Friday 30 April 2027: Medical, dietary and emergency contact forms due. Participants who need a visa should also have submitted their application by this date.

• Friday 14 May 2027: Flight details submitted to the programme team

• Wednesday 16 June 2027: Online pre-departure welcome session

• Thursday 8 July 2027: Students should arrive at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) between 10:00 and 18:00 China time

• Friday 9 July 2027: Welcome and Orientation Day

• Saturday 10 July 2027: Camp China Opening Ceremoney

• Saturday 24 July 2027: Camp China Closing Ceremoney

• Sunday 25 July 2027: Students should book return flights departing from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) between 13:00 and 23:59 China time on that day.
